Knight Engineering Solutions Ltd is excited to share the latest addition to our CNC machine shop – the Mazak Slant Turn 50NR.

This new acquisition will significantly increase our machining capabilities as the Slant Turn is designed for large, heavy duty workpieces, with a large swing over bed and distance between centres it can handle larger diameters and longer parts.

The high torque spindle is capable of handling tough materials such as stainless steel, titanium and Inconel. The Slant Turn’s ability to machine large, heavy parts in a single set up reduces the need for multiple operations, lowering overall productions costs and giving better value for money for large parts.

We have already started machining our own parts and we’re looking forward to assisting our customers with more complex projects.

This partnership will allow KES to extend our design, testing and manufacturing services into the Norwegian oil and gas industry.

The cooperation between KES and GSES aims to provide:

– Promote innovation through combined R&D efforts.
– Deliver tailor-made engineering solutions.

Key services that we can now offer in Norway through GSES:
– Design: 3D modeling, project development from concept to testing and production.

– Test capacity: Advanced facilities with test well, flow loop and hyperbaric chamber.

How it Started…How it’s Going

🌟 This month Knight Engineering Solutions Ltd celebrates five years in business!

⚙️ Founded in May 2019, we started with one small workshop, access to one lathe, one milling machine and no staff. Fast forward five years and we have expanded our workshop, purchased several lathes and mills as well as a host of testing equipment, and we have recently welcomed our 7th employee to the team.

🤩 It’s been a bumpy ride starting a business just before a global pandemic broke out, and there have been other hurdles along the way with Brexit and the cost of living crisis, but KES has gone from strength to strength. We have expanded the range of services we can offer our clients; we have several happy repeat customers; we have a busy order book for 2024 and our turnover has increased year on year.

👏🏼 We are proud of what we have achieved together and how far we have come in five years. We can’t wait to see what the next five years brings as we continue to evolve and grow as a company. Thank you to our clients, suppliers and most importantly our amazing staff for your continued support.

🏎 Knight Engineering Solutions Ltd is delighted to be able to sponsor the Grampian Transport Museum Trust Young Engineers Club in their pursuit of glory at the Greenpower Park racing final at Goodwood in October!

⚡ This group of bright sparks meet every Saturday morning to take part in hands-on STEM activities supported by a dedicated group of volunteer engineers.

🏆 They are currently working towards qualifying for Goodwood by racing at East Fortune in May and Alford in June. Good luck to the team, and we look forward to seeing our logo on a winning car very soon!

Evan is a recent graduate of Glasgow Caledonian University where he gained an MSC in Mechanical Engineering (Manufacture) with Distinction. He also holds a BEng in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Strathclyde.

The strategic addition of the dedicated design role coincides with our fifth year in business and follows a sustained period of growth for KES.

Due to a period of growth, Knight Engineering Solutions Ltd is seeking an experienced part time Design Engineer to join our team.

This position will be considered on a staff or consultant basis.

The ideal candidate

· must be competent with SolidWorks.

· must have a good understanding of mathematics and be able to perform strength and pressure calculations for components.

· would ideally have a Mechanical Engineering or similar qualification.

This role will initially be office based, minimum of 20 hours per week. There is some degree of flexibility of when the hours can be worked. Benefits include 30 days annual leave per annum (pro rata for part time workers), on-site parking, and company pension scheme.

Competitive salary, dependent on experience.

After a busy year, Knight Engineering Solutions Ltd have invested in an additional 4-axis CNC mill to increase our workshop capabilities and offering to our customers.

The Mazak VCN 510C CNC mill with 640M Nexus control unit is designed for high-precision machining tasks, meaning our operators can achieve tight tolerances. The high-speed machining operations will also allow us to increase productivity and reduce lead times.
